Pittsburgh's Own Regional Notables of Jazz

Folks....please read the following report I saw today. The similar circumstances have ocurred to Eric Kloss and from my last encounter with he and his wife Cindy he is not getting any better either. Why doesn't anyone believe them? Eric is also suffering from a rare nervous condition. Perhaps if some of you see this perhaps we can finally do something. No one deserves to live like this. Even though many folks have issues with his wife and her "controlling" nature it bothers me to know that they are suffering also. Please respond with some positive feedback and not negative comments please.

Please read below...will we see ANOTHER great musician forgotten about?

Kevin

As most of you know in addition to being involed with Jazz my entire radio career I have also been involved with Reggae music. These musicians are also part of my wide ranging musical family. This is distrubing news.

The Original Founder and Member of Israel Vibration - Renowned International Reggae Superstar Is In Need of Our Help

Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig
While it’s not uncommon to hear stories of a reggae star’s rise from the ghettos of Jamaica, few performers endured the struggle and have earned the success and international fame as Albert “Apple Gabriel” Craig. As an original member of the globally renowned harmony trio Israel Vibration,
Apple has recently fallen on hard times. Apple has recently been rendered “homeless” .

He also now suffers from seizures due to living in an apartment for 4 years which, unbeknownst to him, was infested with mold bacteria that he was breathing into his lungs.
(The same thing Eric is suffering from)

Apple was the original creator of their “anthemic” songs and the original creator of the “bionic” roots harmonies that is the signature sound of the Group, and he also wrote a seemingly infinite number of great songs, such as Lift Up Your Conscience, We A De Rasta, Why You So Craven, Oh Jan Solid Rock, Middle East, There is No End, Falling Angels, Mud Up and Rude Boy Shuffling, Friday Evening, Walk The Streets of Glory and much, much more.

Apple now needs your help and support. We are accepting donations to assist our Rasta Brother in getting back on his feet. There is so much more that Apple has in store for us musically. Let’s show him how much we appreciate his contribution to us by giving back to him.
Please send donations to:

Hi Kevin and community
Below is a page about Eric and his plight and a way to help them. I think this is still valid..please check it out.

Has anyone asked them what specific things they are in need of at this time? I know they were trying to find a place to live when I last spoke with Candy a long while ago.

Eric & Candee Kloss need your help.

Eric Kloss is an internationally renowned saxophonist and multi-instrumentist, composer, educator, clinician and recording artist. According to the New Grove Directory of Jazz, “Eric is genre-transcending artist whose music blends bop, pop rock, funk, free jazz, classical and world music.

As a special featured actor and artist on Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, Fred Rogers marveled at Eric’s many talents and Accomplishments. He showcased Eric in many shows over 30 years that inspired millions of children and adults.

Eric has been suffering from very serious problems resulting from his pre-mature birth and the over use of oxygen administered at that time to save his life, He has also been physically effected by exposure to mold and chemical infestation.

Eric and Candee, his wife of 21 years, have lost all of their everyday possessions and have been devastated financially by illness, medical bills and loss of income.

These multiple hardships require your special attention and generous donation to help Eric back on the road to becoming healthy and self-sustaining.

Our faith in God combined with our prayers has seen us through much. Your prayers and donations will be received with the love with which they are given. Please give generously and we are sure the rewards will be great.

To send a check direct to the Kloss' please mail to:

Thanks Devorah.

Well folks? What do you think should be or can be done to help?

Dear Kevin
Regarding Eric Kloss and his serious health and survival struggles and his wife Candy as well,, I thank you for your compassionate comments in bringing this to the community in this way.

I haven't been in touch with them for a long while, but a few years ago when I was, I tried to talk with various people in Pgh about ways of helping them.
There seemed to be a lot of frustration and people feeling turned off and thereby kind of walking away from the challenge of how to help.

I pray that this transforms in a positive light and that there will be a resurgence of proactively helping them. What do you suggest that people could actively do for them at this point in time?

I wish there was something more concrete that I could do to help.
I am still in California caring for my seriously ill mom and am rather overwhelmed with what that entails.

My prayers are with Eric and Candy for the healing of their situation in in every way .

I hope hearts and doors will open.
in peace,
Devorah Segall

Hello again,

I'm sorry to hear about Eric Kloss.
Yes, he has made a tremendous impact on the local and national scene.

I also suffer with anxiety problems, but I'm fortunate that with medications and having therapy and visiting a doctor I'm okay.
With all these different types of treatment I can really enjoy performing music and MCing concerts and recitals.

God Be With Eric- I hope everything works out!
Peace,
Ed Skirtich

My thoughts and prayers are with Eric and I hope he can continue to perform.
