DESCRIPTION:A multi-instrumentalist on saxophones & clarinets, Aram Sh
 elton was featured in Downbeat for his active ties to creative music s
 cenes in the Bay Area and Chicago. Critics have compared his saxophone
  style to Roscoe Mitchell and Anthony Braxton. While his music straddl
 es a variety of aesthetic lines, it is connected by the importance of 
 improvisation to develop material and express the individuality of mus
 icians. A graduate of Mills College, his Chicago-based groups include 
 The Fast Citizens (on Delmark), Rolldown (on Cuneiform), and his own A
 rrive.\n\nShelton has performed with a wide variety of talented musici
 ans including Ken Vandermark, Fred Lonberg-Holm, Rob Mazurek, Jeb Bish
 op, Kevin Drumm, Frank Rosaly and Chris Brown. He has performed in Eur
 ope, Canada and the United States including appearances at the Chicago
  Jazz Festival, the Suoni per il Popolo Festival in Montreal, and the 
 Krakow Autumn Jazz Festival. His music has been documented through imp
 rints such as Delmark, 482 Music, Locust Music, MultiKulti, Edgetone, 
 and his own Singlespeed Music.\n\nOpening the show will be the local d
 uo of Dave Bernabo (of Assembly) and Darryl Fleming (of Opek). This sh
 ow is part of the Summer Jazz Mondays Series - tickets are $8 from the
  Thunderbird site and $10 at the door. The upstairs club area will be
