    Hey Sandy,

I am feeling that the page is getting really legitimate now that you are here. ;-)

Pittsburgh connection means whether you are a native, former or present resident, an admirer, etc.

BTW now you have you own website. If you would like to start a network of your own fan base or for any other reason, just click "Create new network" at the top of your page. AND it's all totally free.
  • Michele Bensen

    IT WAS MY PLEASURE!!!!!!
  • Eric Spaulding

Hey Sandy - Red is one of my heros. There's nobody that could build up a crowd playing one note over and over like Red. I like going back and forth between Red and Arnett Cobb, Ike Qubec and Jimmy Forrest, etc. I hope to catch you at a club one of these days!
  • Devorah Segall

    hey Sandy

  • Phat Man Dee

I am so sorry I missed you this Wed, I had to go to Tulsa, Oklahoma to buy a new minivan from my cousin (my car was stolen a few weeks back) and it was so my great misfortune to be over 1000 miles from your lovely voice this past Wednesday, when will you be playing again? Do you keep a calendar somewhere I can check?
  • Alexander Peck

Hey Sandy, Thanks for the kind words. It was great to see you out tonight and last week. My apologies for not swinging by to say hello, but you're quicker than you look. : )
I need to hear you sing soon. It's been far too long.
    Peace & Love,Alex
  • Annie Cosmides

    Hi Sandy!
I'm the gal who played jazz on the radio in Pgh. for many years. My career took me to Youngsown and I had 21 years in radio before retiring. I came to see you sing with Roger many, many times and have long been a fan of yours too! I did go to Duquesne and CMU for music way back when and am now a High School band director! Hope to hear you sing again sometime soon! P.S.- My radio names in Pgh. were Jazz Now with Annie on DUQ, Annie's After Hours Club on WAMO and Annie Collins on WYJZ and Lite-FM etc., etc. By the way I have a great jazz collection too, many albums signed by the artist, i.e.- Ella, Dizzy, Count Basie and more. Annie
  • Devorah Segall

    dear sandy
Thank you so much for your consoling words on the passing of my wonderful mom. You're right about the un-fillable void that's left when our parents pass on.
It was a treasure for me to be with her during these past 19 months. She was the greatest person and I am blessed to be her daughter and to truly know the legacy she leaves to this world.
She told me once last year that hearing a song in her mind was how she stayed serene and happy. She loved singing Fly Me To THe Moon...maybe you'll sing it for her sometime!! I know her soul will feel it.

    much love to you, Sandy
    Devorah
  • Sue Russell

    Hey Sandy---

I just wanted you to know I've been writing about some of my favorite people for jazz.com, like Jimmy Scott

    http://www.jazz.com/encyclopedia/scott-little-jimmy-james-victor

    and Mildred Bailey

    http://www.jazz.com/dozens/the-dozens-mildred-bailey

I hope it's kosher to put links here.

Still singing, mostly for fun and occasionally for the contents of a tip jar. Will sing a few songs tomorrow night at an Italian place with singing waiters. Fortunately I don't have to wait on table.
  • SANDY STALEY

GREAT TO HEAR FROM YOU, SUE. GLAD YOU ARE STILL SO
PASSIONATE ABOUT MUSIC. TIME WELL SPENT!!!!!!
LOVED BOTH MILDRED & JIMMY. CHECK OUT MARTHA DAVIS & SPOUSE. VERY UNIQUE VOICE & SOME INTERESTING MATERIAL.
SO MANY WONDERFUL TALENTS KNOWN TO SO FEW. SHAME.........
    WHERE ARE YOU LIVING NOW?
    MY BEST WISHES TO YOU,
    SANDY STALEY
  • Sue Russell

I will check them out! Always looking for new voices. I am writing a blog piece for jazz.com about jazz and cabaret, how we don't have to take sides. So many of the great singers are hard to define...and that's part of what makes them great.
  • Sue Russell

Oh, and I'm still living on the other side of the state, outside of Philadelphia.
  • Jerry Butler

I would love to feature "you" as my guest on my show..If I am not your friend..please add me...also please call me @ the offc at 757 538 3540...757 971 3733 for details...click on the banner below to be a guest...JB
  • Kent Bey

Greetings... I am establishing a live Jazz Night on a Wednesday between 7pm to 10pm at a very nice, clean, and classy venue in the East Liberty area. The evening will feature local Pittsburgh musicians like Tony Campbell and many others performing for a very appreciative audience of jazz lovers.

I am a Pittsburgh native and local youth arts advocate attempting to expose young up and coming artists to the heart and soul of pure Pittsburgh music culture and traditions as they meet and learn from some of the local Music Masters. If you are interested in hosting a Wednesday night once a month or every other month I would be humbled and honored to make this happen.

    Respectfully,

    Kent Bey

    Hi all,

Sad news for the Pittsburgh jazz community.... Michelle Benson called me yesterday to tell me that our dear friend Sandy Staley passed away at Forbes Hospice Tuesday evening. There will be no viewing, no service. A memorial service will be held later at a time and location to be announced.

Let's be thankful that her suffering is now over.
