Hi Tony welcome to the Network you don't know me but my name is TROY Campbell I play Tenor,Alto Flute String bass and a few other instruments. I think I am getting a few E-Mails for other people in this network that think you are me and I am you. I just moved back to Pittsburgh fromVirginia where I lived for 22 years. I worked with Johnny Costa for two years until he died. I am now 77 and still working once in a while. I would hope someday we could meet and talk about your playing. Good Luck from an old Dude. Hi Tony,
How's everything going?
Are you doing any jam sets?
I really appreciate all your musical talents and how you've helped me acheive musical success.
You do such a nice job of MCing jam sessions.
You give us really nice introductions at the jam sets, and you also let us pick tunes of our choice.
It's also pretty cool that you challenge us with tunes and pick different tempos and styles of tunes too.
I also appreciate how nice you are to my Mom.
It's pretty cool too that some of your family had my Dad at 5th Ave. High School. Although my deepest sympathy to all those great Schenley Boys Basketball Teams that probably lost to 5th Ave. and Brashear (If this is incorrect, please let me know, the rivalry does sound both intriguing and exciting).
Anyways, I hope you continue to entertain, bebop, and swing.
Feel free to call us about coming over to our house for dinner.
Thanks for making such a great impact to my life and career.
What a wonderful sound...the whole big band is fabulous, but there is no sound like the sound of a saxophone, and my my my can you make it sing:) EXCELLENT! Thank you for sharing your gifts & talents....Have a safe holiday weekend.
Blessings to you(-:O
Hey Tony, It's always good to see cat's continuing to kill the giant. You sound great as ever my brotha'. I trust to come in and hear you again, it's been a while...Thanks for the ongoing commitment,...peace, Christopher Dean Sullivan
Hey man, that was beautiful. I've heard you off and on, through the years but never with a band of the size that is backing you on this session. Good luck and much continued success.
Dear Tony,
It's so nice to read about you and realize that you're held in such deservedly high regard by your peers. I carry with me always the memory of your hauntingly, lush rendition of "Naima," in which you clearly outshine Coltrane.
With love,
Nancy P.
Tony, thanks for inviting me to your jam session last night. I was GREAT! Look forward to more in the future. By the way I know I've told you before but this song girl talk you did no words can describe how great it sounds...I'll start with sublime...By the way I posted some of the songs from the jam session last night on my page...Stop by and check it out...and some of the songs we did at the Kelly Strayhorne Show...Peace Ahveekhy
Tony, we need to get together for lunch or dinner sometime. It seems we are close to being on the same page on some issues in the Jazz community of Pittsburgh. Love to hear some of your ideas. Let's talk soon. James
I would love to feature "you" as my guest on my show..If I am not your friend..please add me...also please call me @ the offc at 757 538 3540...757 971 3733 for details...click on the banner below to be a guest...JB
Tony, My heart goes out to you. Your a very warm and heartfelt person I've grown to admire and trust. I"m deeply appreciative of knowing you your dad and your history. I'll never forget that theft of your saxophone at Pitt music library, but what a recovery it turned out to be. You are a Pittsburgh icon I got to know. I cherish knowing you. Your Brother, ALI.
Hey Tony!
Probably don't remember me but it's Mark Leonard bruh....Now that I'm retired, I have nothing nut time on my hands! I hope that I can catch you playing somewhere and hear some REAL music....although you play sax and I play drums, I learned some stuff about "the craft" from you when I was just a young one hanging with my cousin Hump at the K&S Lounge and places of the like, thanks man!
