For as long as I can remember, I've been attracted to jazz as a language. My father would take me to Newport, RI to from where we lived in little Rhody. As a visual artist, it only made sense to create something out of anything. As a child, I listened to the sounds of Milt Jackson, Dizzy Gillespie, Nina Simone, among others. Improvisation seemed to make new associations. As a visual artist, I lived for those possibilities. I eventually became a teacher and encouraged students to save their…
