What community music school trained Robert McFerrin, Sr. for his history-making debut with the Metropolitan Opera? What virtually unknown pianist was a significant influence on young John Coltrane, Shirley Scott, McCoy Tyner, Bobby Timmons and Ray Bryant when he moved to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh in the 1940s? For almost 100 years the Pittsburgh region has been a metacenter of jazz originality that is second to no other in the history of jazz. One of the best kept secrets in jazz folklore, the Pittsburgh Jazz Legacy has heretofore remained mythical. We have dubbed it “the greatest story never told” since it has not been represented in writing before now in such a way as to be accessible to anyone seeking to know more about it. When it was happening, little did we know how priceless the memories would become when the times were gone.
Today jazz is still king in Pittsburgh, with events, performances and activities happening all the time. The Pittsburgh Jazz Network is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the places, artists and fans that carry on the legacy of Pittsburgh's jazz heritage.

Using this blank editable template, students will create an origami study guide filled with your class vocabulary, test questions, you name it! WHAT'S INCLUDED in this BLANK TEMPLATE:• Instructions for creating a fortune teller / cootie catcher• Instructions for assembling the fortune teller• A blank template so students (or teachers) can Cut around the dotted lines to cut out the fortune teller. 2. Fold the opposite diagonal corners together and open it back up. 3. Fold the outside 4 corners so they meet in the center. 4. Flip it over and fold those 4 corners inward to meet in the center. 5. Fold in half both ways. 6. Flip it over and place your fingers under the flaps. How to Use: First pick a color. Spell the color out by Origami Fortune Teller Materials 8.5 x 11 paper Scissors Instructions Step 1: Fold the bottom right corner of the paper up so it is even with the left edge of the paper. Step 2: Cut the remaining unfolded paper off. Step 3: Unfold the paper. Step 4: Fold the paper in half diagonally across the existing fold line and then unfold it. Step 5: Instructions. Download and print the cootie catcher template at the end of this post. Cut out the square. Flip the square over and fold it in half, from the top to the bottom. Unfold. Then, fold the square from the right to the left and unfold it again. Now fold each corner of the square towards the center, as shown below.
