PITTSBURGH JAZZ

From Blakey to Brown, Como to Costa, Eckstine to Eldridge, Galbraith to Garner, Harris to Hines, Horne to Hyman, Jamal to Jefferson, Kelly to Klook; Mancini to Marmarosa, May to Mitchell, Negri to Nestico, Parlan to Ponder, Reed to Ruther, Strayhorn to Sullivan, Turk to Turrentine, Wade to Williams… the forthcoming publication Treasury of Pittsburgh Jazz Connections by Dr. Nelson Harrison and Dr. Ralph Proctor, Jr. will document the legacy of one of the world’s greatest jazz capitals.

Do you want to know who Dizzy Gillespie  idolized? Did you ever wonder who inspired Kenny Clarke and Art Blakey? Who was the pianist that mentored Monk, Bud Powell, Tad Dameron, Elmo Hope, Sarah Vaughan and Mel Torme? Who was Art Tatum’s idol and Nat Cole’s mentor? What musical quartet pioneered the concept adopted later by the Modern Jazz Quartet? Were you ever curious to know who taught saxophone to Stanley Turrentine or who taught piano to Ahmad Jamal? What community music school trained Robert McFerrin, Sr. for his history-making debut with the Metropolitan Opera? What virtually unknown pianist was a significant influence on young John Coltrane, Shirley Scott, McCoy Tyner, Bobby Timmons and Ray Bryant when he moved to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh in the 1940s?  Would you be surprised to know that Erroll Garner attended classes at the Julliard School of Music in New York and was at the top of his class in writing and arranging proficiency?

Some answers  can be gleaned from the postings on the Pittsburgh Jazz Network.

For almost 100 years the Pittsburgh region has been a metacenter of jazz originality that is second to no other in the history of jazz.  One of the best kept secrets in jazz folklore, the Pittsburgh Jazz Legacy has heretofore remained mythical.  We have dubbed it “the greatest story never told” since it has not been represented in writing before now in such a way as to be accessible to anyone seeking to know more about it.  When it was happening, little did we know how priceless the memories would become when the times were gone.

Today jazz is still king in Pittsburgh, with events, performances and activities happening all the time. The Pittsburgh Jazz Network is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the places, artists and fans that carry on the legacy of Pittsburgh's jazz heritage.

A beneficial thing to do would be to have a common REST API documentation portal, across the organization. Have a look at one such portal: Such a portal consolidates all the resources present in Use your Guidewire Cloud Platform account to access documentation. Continue. Customer Community Account In this article we will demonstrate seven simple REST client examples involving sending a GET request to an HTTP-based API using an API key for authentication. We will present examples demonstrating NodeJS, Python, Ruby, PHP, and Perl. We'll also show you how to use the great Insomnia and Postman API testing tools to test your new API calls. REST API (Introduction) R epresentational S tate T ransfer (REST) is an architectural style that defines a set of constraints to be used for creating web services. REST API is a way of accessing web services in a simple and flexible way without having any processing. REST technology is generally preferred to the more robust Simple Object Access Step 3) Create the web service file. The next step is to create the web service file which is going to have the RESTful web service. First Right-click on the project file as shown below. In this step, Right-click on the project file. Choose the option "Add->new item.". 2 Key features of the REST API. 2.1 Each resource in REST architecture is identified by its URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) 2.2 REST API | Using HTTP protocol. 2.3 A complete example of executing a REST request using a URI. 2.4 REST API | Client/server protocol. 2.5 REST API and Hypermedia - HATEOAS. 3 The main benefits of using a REST API. REST Service: the server. There are many popular libraries that make creation of these servers a breeze, like ExpressJS for NodeJS and Django for Python. REST API: this defines the endpoint and methods allowed to access/submit data to the server. We will talk about this in great detail below. This REST API tutorial will explain 4 HTTP methods. The first HTTP method we are going to discuss in this REST API tutorial is the GET Method. It's used to obtain a specific resource or a collection of resources using a resource identifier. PUT will be the second HTTP method in our REST API Tutorial. 1) Create a new Maven Project. 2) Configure Spring Boot in Eclipse / Add the dependencies for Spring Boot. 3) Create the Launch class for Spring Boot Application. Create the REST API Controller in Spring Boot. Create the DAO class to create dummy data. Create the Model class to hold the dummy data. Test the REST API / RESTful Web Service. The purpose of rest api testing is to record the response of rest api by sending various HTTP/S requests to check if rest api is working fine or not. Rest api testing is done by GET, POST, PUT and DELETE methods. Rest stands for Representational State Transfer. It is an architectural style and an approach for communication used in the For demo purpose, we will see examples to call JSON based REST API in Python. However, the same concept can be used to connect to an XML file, JSON file, REST API, SOAP, Web API. In this example, we will connect to the following JSON Service URL and query using Python Script. Examples of REST API commands. Many REST and command-line client commands have examples in their help topics. A few more examples using various programming languages and scenarios are provided here. To use the REST API with this step, add the step to a process and specify the following information: Name Specify a nam
