From Blakey to Brown, Como to Costa, Eckstine to Eldridge, Galbraith to Garner, Harris to Hines, Horne to Hyman, Jamal to Jefferson, Kelly to Klook; Mancini to Marmarosa, May to Mitchell, Negri to Nestico, Parlan to Ponder, Reed to Ruther, Strayhorn to Sullivan, Turk to Turrentine, Wade to Williams… the forthcoming publication Treasury of Pittsburgh Jazz Connections by Dr. Nelson Harrison and Dr. Ralph Proctor, Jr. will document the legacy of one of the world’s greatest jazz capitals.
Do you want to know who Dizzy Gillespie idolized? Did you ever wonder who inspired Kenny Clarke and Art Blakey? Who was the pianist that mentored Monk, Bud Powell, Tad Dameron, Elmo Hope, Sarah Vaughan and Mel Torme? Who was Art Tatum’s idol and Nat Cole’s mentor? What musical quartet pioneered the concept adopted later by the Modern Jazz Quartet? Were you ever curious to know who taught saxophone to Stanley Turrentine or who taught piano to Ahmad Jamal? What community music school trained Robert McFerrin, Sr. for his history-making debut with the Metropolitan Opera? What virtually unknown pianist was a significant influence on young John Coltrane, Shirley Scott, McCoy Tyner, Bobby Timmons and Ray Bryant when he moved to Philadelphia from Pittsburgh in the 1940s? Would you be surprised to know that Erroll Garner attended classes at the Julliard School of Music in New York and was at the top of his class in writing and arranging proficiency?
Some answers can be gleaned from the postings on the Pittsburgh Jazz Network.
For almost 100 years the Pittsburgh region has been a metacenter of jazz originality that is second to no other in the history of jazz. One of the best kept secrets in jazz folklore, the Pittsburgh Jazz Legacy has heretofore remained mythical. We have dubbed it “the greatest story never told” since it has not been represented in writing before now in such a way as to be accessible to anyone seeking to know more about it. When it was happening, little did we know how priceless the memories would become when the times were gone.
Today jazz is still king in Pittsburgh, with events, performances and activities happening all the time. The Pittsburgh Jazz Network is dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the places, artists and fans that carry on the legacy of Pittsburgh's jazz heritage.
WELCOME!

Vintage Postal Stamp ( Poem )
Turn of the century Vintage Stamps
Traceable history make value enhance
Prices get higher as the years go by
Dream of finding one valued so high
Extremely fine with the perfect gum
Designer flaws bring high premium
Famous from error illustration
Collection of art inspiration
We are crazy for detailed graphics
Finding rare depends on the markets
Unused are the old collectibles
Their worth can…

Harness Racing ( Poem )
Horses pull a two wheeled cart
If it breaks you will depart
Place a bet before it starts
Good wager wins if played smart
Riders ready at the gate
Fans no longer have to wait
Athlete sport with high speed
Is a skill you surely need
At times a horse can fall down
Sad to see that come around
Last turn has crowd in a roar
We wait to hear close end score
If your looking to explore
My…

Kids Love For Animals ( Poem )
Children’s favorite shows are of animals
I have hours in a playlist that are laughable
Like a camera pecking rooster and fun monkeys
To a mom and a baby miniature donkeys
Videos of wild turkeys and charming geese
Ducks in water and chicks learning to speak
Dazzling ostrich and many free birds
Some you would not want to move towards
A large unique animal is the alligator
The total opposite of the…

Creating A Christmas Tree ( Poem )
Create designer Christmas tree
From squash, to bread, and fun cookies
Instructions made so easily
One from red hat society
Home from the heart season theme
Star wars made a holiday scene
Wonderland can be of little lambs
Making ornaments with your hands
Whatever your style or budget
Your personal touch can be tropic
Focal point of your home can be
Inspired by glamorous jewelry
We…

Tractor Pulls ( Poem )
America’s passion tractor haul
Ford and Farmall want to take it all
Showcasing your tractor is never dull
Case give a strong performance call
See a smokey John Deere tractor
Unleash yourself in an Oliver
Massey Ferguson speeds uncovered
As International pulls with no effort
White’s power with high tractive force
As McCormick is running the course
Agricultural machinery Competition
Fun family oriented…

Woodsmen Day ( Poem)
Sport using handsaws
With a toothed edge blade
One or two handed sawing
On a woodsmen fair day
Traditional log rolling
Is a lumberjacks technique
Style used in river driving
The illustration is unique
Springboard tree is branchless
With live action you can’t beat
Platform board is dangerous
A risk if you compete
Block ax chopping
Is a loggers sport indeed
Hard on your back swinging
Be…

Wishing Witch
My Halloween screenplay is funny as can be
It’s funny how witchcraft is what we need to see
Brewing up trouble with all your classmates
The teacher will get angry, make no mistake
Crazy riddles from a child can be so scary
Being her classmate leaves you feeling wary
You may start a princess and end as a boar
As her riddles will leave you in an uproar
Will you return to normal after all this nonsense
Is the question…

Broken Souls
I talk to producers of books and screenplays
My tormented farm life strayed my way
Strict sheltered home and harsh realities
Today’s modern world and mental tragedies
Constantly under pressure, was pure and healthy
I find I was repressed by everything I’d see
Never exposed to the world most know
By turning on t.v and watching a show
The day finally came, I had to leave home
To the hard tough world, I felt so…

The Warmth Of Homemade
Cooking, freezing, and raspberry jam
Beef stew, salmon pie, and egg rolls out of ham
Quick party foods and a hunters breakfast
Castle cake, feather bed, and little trees for Christmas
Cakes of Dolphin, Smurf, and Muno too
Butterfly, Barbie Doll with thousands of views
Baby items, aprons, and dresses to sew
You can make your own maple syrup, you know
Wreaths, snowmen, and Christmas logs are a craft
Helping…

READ ALL ABOUT IT
Stories all of 100 years old
Bribery And Blackmail
They have to be retold
Definitions of words have surely changed
as Kilts And Reefers are now explained.
Two Kinds Of Success stories
That Work Both Ways
Stealing From Cities
and the Faithful Toby way
No Poison In The Wallpaper
is History Rewritten
With A Humble Helper
and Powerful Competition
Like a Scene In A Play
The Counterpane Got…

My Interests
I am a fifty-eight year old lady. I am a mother of five and I have eight grandchildren. Through my lifetime I have tried my hand at book publishing and screenplay writing, but I find myself enjoying my new hobby now that the kids are grown of making videos to show work that I have done and extend my obsession with photography in video form.
I first started with a youtube channel under Dorisanne13. On top of doing short commercial videos about my screenplays I have…
