Remembering Sell Hall
Jazz Impresario and Sportsman
Sell brought the big swing bands to the Labor Temple and Pythian Temple for his popular dances during the 1920s and 1930s. He began as a star athlete with the Monticellos basketball team, the Homestead Grays, and the American Giants. He managed several baseball teams, ran the Central Park baseball field, and clashed with his friend/rival Com Posey.
