Pittsburgh Connection
Though I grew up in Maryland, my family has been in Pittsburgh since 1906 when my grandmother came off the boat from Russia at age 6. I have lived in Pittsburgh since 1996. I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Masters in Business Administration in 2001. I currently reside in Upper St. Clair with my wife and daughter.
Favorite Pittsburgh musicians/performers
Gene Ludwig, Dr. James Johnson, Roger Humphries, John D'Amico, Virgil Walters, Erin Burkett, Dwayne Dolphin, George Jones, Dr. Nelson Harrison, Sean Jones, Ken Karsh, Chris Hemingway, Max Leake, Mike Murray, Spider Rondinelli, Sandy Staley, Alton Merrell, Lily Abreu, Eric Suesoff, Olga Watkins and the Soul Kitchen Band, Eric DeFade, Scott Anderson, Jimmy Ponder, Howie Alexander, Poogie Bell, Tony Campbell, Skip Peck, Frank Cunimondo... and whoever else I am missing.... sorry!
Favorite Pittsburgh Jazz Venue
The Afro American Music Institute of Pittsburgh
About Me:
I play piano, Hammond organ and keys. Outside of jazz, I am also into funk, soul, fusion, jam bands, gospel and blues, too. In Pittsburgh, I have studied under Dr. James Johnson, Gene Ludwig and Bob Doak. I have a long ways to go and am still very much a work in progress. I don't do music for a living, but mostly love the freedom to play on different projects, start up new bands, put original stuff out there, and overall pursue what interests me musically without regard to earning an income from it to whoever is interested. Some of my influences include Ray Charles, Donny Hathaway, George Duke, Joe Zawinul, Jimmy Smith, Jack McDuff, Joey D, Stevie Wonder, Monk, Herbie, McCoy and too many others to list.

Hey Jeff, what a small world it's becoming now that Janelle and Patti seem to have hooked up. I'm looking forward to Saturday just to get out to play somewhere other than our practice space, and meet all the other bands.
