Rajasthan is a state in India that is mainly remembered for it’s being a desert area. The sand dunes are a point of attraction for tourists in the western part of this state and camels that are now used for entertainment purposes mostly were once upon a time the only means of commutation here. Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Ranthambhore etc are some of the great houses of sand dunes and the shining sand attract everyone. Though Rajasthan is mainly known for sand dunes and the desert; there are several…

Existem tantos caminhos onde as gerações transgridem.

....WITH MUSIC!
That's precisely what happens when musicians jam during the YINZIDE OUT
Showcase Events. Those of you who made it to the first event at the Grove....KUDOS to you; wow. You know who you are.
The synergy at last night's performance proved this needs to happen. With every beat of the drum, strum of the gueeetar, varied vocalists sweet styles, bass booms and dynamics created therein, an energy built until you couldn't help but want more.
Those…

While it is the job of the person organizing the event to promote, promote, promote I wonder if the actual participants (the musicians) do all they can to help their cause.
Do folks help spread the word through their personal network, tell friend or fans where the next gig is and how they can support. the venue and promoter by doing this?
Is it just the job of the promoter to get the word out? Should this be a colaboration with the artist? If folks don't promote their…

While I've only been at this promoting business for a short time (compared to most of you musicians out there), one conversation that continues to surface is the $money$ talk. One thing I've definitely picked up on is.....YOU ARE UNDER PAID AND UNDER APPRECIATED BY VENUE OWNERS! Ok, now that i've gotten that off my chest....I'm wondering if we can open a dialogue on this issue. I don't really have answers, but wonder how others feel about this topic and if they have any answers to share with…

The New Pittsburgh Courier Written by Christian Morrow - Courier Staff Writer Thursday, 05 November 2009 13:12 Kenny Fisher didn’t talk much, but his saxophone spoke volumes to those lucky enough to have heard him play. “Fish,” as his friends called him, was one of the last links to Pittsburgh’s heyday as a jazz mecca—he knew everyone and played everywhere; the Loendi Club, the Hurricane and the old Crawford Grill. On Oct. 25, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Fisher played his last solo, he…

I just recieved word of the transition of Pittsburgh saxophonist Kenny 'Fish' Fisher. I have known fish for over thirty years, meeting him as a child taking lessons at the Homewood-Brushton Jazz Workshop. I later studied with him as he gave improvisation lessons at the Homewood Carnegie Library.
Fish was an excellent player, respected and liked by everyone. As a young man he got to practice with John Coltrane while he was in Pittsburgh on a date at the Crawford Grill. He was also a…
