I believe that few things could ever excite me more then not being the same as the last.
If our moods and excitements were not in our creations, if our Being is not shining from the tapestry that holds our tender thoughts, it is not worthy of the titles bestowed on it. If our work is minus but only 1-10th % of our ability, this work of ours must be thrown to the floor, and disgraced with our utmost ability.
Well, our spring has finally set in. As you know, we got our first…

I took my family for a ride today, just around the way, nowhere but through those most incredibly placed hills and valleys of Fayette County Pa.. On our rides, we always have sound coming from the Radio. That beat, as we explore the vicissitudes of our ever-lasting meadows of faded yellow. Music is most helpful when a discussion has died away and the beauty of my birthplace pulls everyone’s attention away. I for 40 odd years traversing of curves that go left then right then left again. My lions…

Hello fellow Jazz lovers, I believe it's time that we start to take a serious look at this concept called SmoothAhead. I know some people may think the name is a little corny or not easy to say, but get pass the name and think about what it represents. With the demise of so many Smooth Jazz radio stations across the country and only a few NPR stations at all, wouldn't it be great if we had stations that played both genres. They could rotate (Traditional or Straight-Ahead) with (Contemporary or…

Today I was given what could be the most frightening information I could ever get hold of in the respect of our independence as individual Americans. The Pennsylvania state budget proposal ( S.B.) 850 has planned to heavily cut state funding to the Greatest device we have as a Free Nation, our libraries. As this Nation’s recession digs deeper and everyone of us feel the pain, our lawmaking body tries to find ways to slash costs. Those governing the budget have now set their sights on education…

Died May 16, 2009 Tuesday, May 19, 2009 By Moriah Balingit, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Randy Purcell, with his trombone.
From his Brookline home, where the music never stopped, trombone player Randy Purcell blew his way onto the international scene with his loud and aggressive musical style, becoming ranked among the top dozen trombonists across the globe. Mr. Purcell died Saturday night of complications from diabetes. He was 62.…

So sad to hear of the passing of Randy Purcell.
We all knew he was sick for a long time, but the news is still tragic.
We lost another legend today.
I guess Maynard was saving a seat in his band up there...

Ron Davenport has sold WAMO A.M./F.M. and WPGR, there is now no Black Urban Radio in Pittsburgh, PA. Think about it, there is no broadcast media outlet for black expression, concern or news. We are now back to the future of the 1940's. What is your comment or concerns?

Are you an indy Soul, Jazz, Funk, Blues, or Rock artist who is suffering during this economic depression? Do you have too few gigs, or too few sales (physical or digital)?
Hell you can't even get people to go to your website to sign up for your mailing list or to download a free song. Are you a Soul, Jazz, Funk, Blues, Rock artist on Myspace, Twitter, Facebook, etc and your fans still can't find you?
Are you an older artist and your fans can't find you online? Are you an…

We found this on our FaceBook page--it concerns the funding for arts that are in jeopardy in your great state. We're a Detroit/Chicago based band, but we are also going through similar problems in our states. The Detroit Jazz Fest, which in the last two years had 72 acts each in the last two years, are now down to only 33 acts for this years festival.
This is a link to a petition about arts in Pennsylvania:

As we are approaching the 1200 member level, it has come to my attention that our recent practice of e-blasting current live local events has been both favorably and unfavorably received. Since this network is about values (personal, professional and artistic), I will try to address both the positive and negative feedback I have received thus far and invite any and all comments in response so that we can best learn how to serve the membership.…

Did I ever tell you of my experience with an evil apparition, a specter, a demon, a ghost?
A many decades have gone by, yet it is as if it happened the night before last.
A young son I was, no more then ten. Such a strong child I was, fearful of nothing, as long as I was by my mother’s hand.
We lived in the country, on a road all by ourselves.
Vacant of life, void of expression.
Nothing to watch from my crooked porch, but for the Osage posts disappearing into the…
